God is always present to us, seeking intimacy and offering gifts and guidance. The trouble is we are not always at home!  Our lives can be crowded and busy, with so many things pulling at our hearts and minds, it is difficult to be still and know that God is God, to listen for God’s voice and simply enjoy God’s company.

Jesus regularly took time away for prayer and reflection, to be renewed and empowered for the work he was called to do. He invites us to do the same:

Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while. (Mark 6:31)

Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  (Mt 11:28)

Sacred Pause retreats offer time and space apart to prayerfully reflect on who we are in God, and where we are in our life’s journey.  They give us much needed time for spiritual rest and renewal, for listening more intently to ourselves and God and for receiving the wisdom and grace we need to sustain and revitalize us.  Each Sacred Pause retreat has a guiding theme and texts, leaving space for both individual prayer and reflection and small group conversation.  Enjoy the silence, shared solitude, and gentle guidance in sacred space that invites you to reconnect with the Heart of your heart.

It’s hard to deny or ignore that our social fabric feels very worn, ragged, perhaps even like it’s unraveling. But the scale of the suffering, threat and devastation can feel so overwhelming, we get hardened to it or paralyzed into all-on-northing thinking. How can we stay soft and compassionate when we’re tempted to turn away or shut down? And how can we move beyond consuming so much bad news it depletes, to moving into solidarity and action that actually tends the hurt and nourished us in the process?

Part of the power and beauty of being a believer is that we don’t act alone, but are part of the much larger body of Christ. We are given certain gifts and tasks for tending to our hurting world, while others take on different roles. The question is, how do we discern what is ours to do? How do we channel our grief and rage, fear and anxiety into meaningful action?

In this afternoon retreat, we'll share a nourishing contemplative meal, some guided prayer, reflection and conversation around how we’re called and equipped as part of the body or Christ to tend to part of the body of Christ.
