Lenten Quiet Day:
Meeting God in the Wilderness
God is always present to us,
seeking intimacy and offering gifts and guidance.
The trouble is we are not always at home!
Our lives can be crowded and busy,
with so many things pulling at our hearts and minds,
it is difficult to be still and know that God is God,
to listen for God’s voice and simply enjoy God’s company.
Jesus regularly took time away for prayer and reflection,
to be renewed and empowered for the work he was called to do.
He invites us to do the same:
Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.
(Mark 6:31)
Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
(Mt 11:28)
Quiet days offer time and space apart to prayerfully reflect on who we are in God, and where we are in our life’s journey. They give us much needed time for spiritual rest and renewal, for listening more intently to ourselves and God and receiving the wisdom and grace we need to sustain and revitalize us. Each quiet day has a guiding theme and texts, leaving space for both individual prayer and reflection and small group conversation. Enjoy the silence, shared solitude, and gentle guidance in sacred space that invites you to reconnect with the Heart of your heart.
