Kimberly Broerman is the creator of Deep Waters Center for Prayer and Exploration, and the Spiritual Director in Residence at Amerson House, located at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta. With a passion for creating sacred space for folks to share their souls and deepen their spiritual lives, she offers one-on-one direction, small groups, retreats, and workshops in various formats and settings.

Kimberly grew up in Savannah, GA, and came to Atlanta to attend Candler School of Theology at Emory University. After receiving a Master of Divinity, she served for seven years as Minister of Education and Formation at Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Midtown. During that time, she experienced transformation through her relationship with a spiritual director and by ongoing retreats at Green Bough House of Prayer, leading her to seek out more experience and training in spiritual formation. She has participated in the Upper Room’s Companions in Ministry program, courses in Centering Prayer and Contemplative Living at the Julian of Norwich Center here in Atlanta, and conferences of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, NM. Kimberly is an Associate at Green Bough and a member of Spiritual Directors International.

Discerning a desire to share these rich and life-giving experiences and practices with others, Kimberly created Deep Waters Center for Prayer and Exploration in 2008 and began offering spiritual direction full-time. Her areas of exploration include contemplative prayer and spirituality, mindful eating, women’s spirituality, and the Enneagram as a tool for spiritual transformation. Mostly she loves the sacred privilege of companioning people on their spiritual journeys, creating safe space for them to share their lives, and offering encouragement and resources for diving deeper into the Great Mystery.

Kimberly enjoys being outdoors, writing, yoga, gardening, cooking, and gathering with friends. She and her husband Michael live in the East Lake neighborhood.
